Talk & Music mit Todd Goldfinger, d.a.i. Tübingen. Why is Heavy Metal relevant today? Which cultural impact does it (really) have? Why does it still exist, and why does it still make parents so furious and/or scared? All of this and more will be covered in this lecture, including the roots of Heavy Metal music, censorship in the 80s by the PMRC’s (Parents Music Resource Center), the violence associated with heavy metal, and why it has been an easy target for the media in the past. This lecture features music clips from several artists, and a live demonstration by the speaker. Todd Goldfinger has a BA in Studio Composition, teaches at the d.a.i. and at the jamclub Tübingen and plays bass for “Coronatus”, a female fronted heavy metal band from Stuttgart. – In Zusammenarbeit mit der Musikschule jamclub, Tübingen.
