- NY77 – The coolest year in hell

NY77: The Coolest Year in Hell ist eine Dokumentation über den Big Blackout Day im Jahr 1977. Ein Stromausfall hat am 13.Juli 1977 ganz New York für 24 Stunden lahm gelegt. Viele Zeitzeugen erinnern sich noch heute an diesen Tag, so auch Disco Legenden, die aufstrebende Punkszene im CBGB und auch Legenden der Hip Hop Bewegung.

“Out of chaos came creation. From the South Bronx came hip hop. From the Lower East Side, the thrashing guitars of punk. And all over the city, a disco revolution was underway. Elaborate, finely crafted graffiti art decorated the subway cars and break-dancers shimmied in the streets. The sexual revolution was in full swing. In January 1977, most of this activity existed in its own underground bubble. Yet by the end of the year this artistic expression was on its way to mainstream America, and would be with us for generations to come.”

Christian Beetz ist genau genommen ein Teil von diesem Kollektiv, welches schon seit einigen Jahren in Darmstadt (603qm, room 106, hillstreet-club) und auch in Frankfurter Clubs (ola montez, tropic rhonda, yachtclub, ostbahnhof, stereobar) auflegen und Partys organisieren. Diese können alle samt in den tiefen des Disco Kosmos angesiedelt werden und wir freuen uns deshalb sehr auf neuen ITALO Wind aus Darmstadt.
