With a strong tradition of religious freedom and without the presence of a state church, the United States is home to a wide variety of religious groups. They are ranging from churches and organizations such as the Latter-Day-Saints (Mormons) to movements such as Pentecostalism. Judaism, Islam and Asian spiritual traditions as well as the growth of secularism have further contributed to the country’s religious diversity. Furthermore, religious references in public life often attempt to embrace all Americans as forming “one nation under God”. The talk will provide an overview.
