Reading by Yvonne Woon, Worcester, Massachusetts.

Dead Beautiful is an impossible love story between the dead and the very much alive. Borders between cultures and worlds are crossed in the name of love, and what separates people most eventually becomes the cause for irresistible attraction.

After the mysterious death of her parents, Renée Winters is put under the care of her estranged grandfather, who sends her to Gottfried Academy. At the Academy darkly handsome Dante Berlin is the object of every girl’s desire, but he seems unreachable until Renée crosses his path. In order to solve the death of Renée´s parents and other inexplicable deaths at the boarding school, Dante and Renée start an investigation revealing the true purpose of the Academy as well as the potentially fatal connection between the two teens.

Transformation of the human being and the changing perception of oneself and each other are the main topics of this story, which was described by the School Library Journal as “Twilight at Hogwarts”.Yvonne Woon was born in 1984 and grew up in Massachusetts, where she attended Worcester Academy. She is currently a graduate student at Columbia University, pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in fiction. Dead Beautiful is her first novel.
