Advertised 40 years ago as „the young generation of Chicago Blues“, Erwin Helfer has now become a living legend of piano blues and boogie woogie. In his home town Chicago he plays the Chicago Blues Festival every year, and in 2012 the City organized a gala concert in his honor at the open air Millenium Park stage: „Erwin Helfer – a life in Boogie and Blues“.
Now he returns to Europe and he brings with him his friends and longtime musical associates: Katherine Davis, one of the finest blues singers in Chicago, and tenor sax-player John Brumbach, who has been playing with Erwin for 30 years. He learned his trade in the bands of Ray Charles, Ike & Tina Turner, Taka Boom, and Otis Clay. This is a kind of blues you don‘t hear too often anymore: acoustic, unplugged, full of feeling and of the highest artistic and musical level.
