After the tumult and shouting of an unprecedentedly vicious and hyperexpensive
election campaign, and victory within a shifting framework of increasingly nonwhite and woman voters, the time has come for Barack Obama to show his true colors and tell us what his concrete vision for the future of America is. An even more important question than what he will try to do is, HOW will he try to do it? The job will be daunting, the challenges formidable and the decision-making not easy. In short, how is President Obama going to be remembered- as a second Jimmy Carter or a new Franklin D. Roosevelt? Until now the game of politics in Washington has almost completely over-shadowed the hard work of governing. However, in spite of gridlock, there still may be a case for hope.
