Topsy The Great is an instrumental power noise trio. The band was born in Prato, Italy, in 2008 and the name is inspired by the tragic story of an elephantress, Topsy, killed by electrocution in Central Park by Thomas Edison to demonstrate that alternating current was dangerous in domestic use. Not a random choice. The abrasive and sharp sound is a particular and unconventional artistic/aesthetical choice: low cost transistor amplifiers, d.i.y. pedal effects, anachronistic 70s drum set.
Since the beginning Topsy The Great showed a rude punk attitude, inclination to noise and irregular rhythms. Those elements were developed in the first two EPs, s/t (2009) and vol II (2010). Particularly the second one shows the live energy of the band, the experimental and d.i.y attitude.
In 2011 the band recorded their first full length album, that was released in Sept. 2012 by FromScratch and Santavalvola on vinyl and digital download and in Oct. 2012 by Carrots vs. Flashlights on tape.

Huxley sind 5 Typen aus Tübingen. Zwischen den Riffs, die die dem nackten Groove verfallen aber immer eine Spur quer sind, und der instrumentalen Urgewalt von widerhallenden, melodiengetränkten Parts - irgendwo dort spielt sich Huxleys Musik ab. Und wenn damit schon keine Horizonte geöffnet werden, dann doch wenigstens Ohren.
